Qualification

Applicants who have completed more than 12 years of school education or equivalent and fall under the following conditions:

  • (1)

    Applicant who is older than 18 years-old.

  • (2)

    Applicant who has been permitted (or with strong prospect to acquire permission) to enter Japan through a proper procedure.

  • (3)

    Applicant who intends to enter a vocational school, university or graduate school in Japan, or who wishes to master the Japanese language to be successful in his/her home country.

  • (4)

    Applicant who has already acquired basic Japanese language (has more than 150 hours of Japanese language study experience, or has Japanese language ability at the same or higher level as Level N4 of Japanese Language Proficiency Test).

  • (5)

    Applicant who has financial supporter(s) whose income can support the applicant’s tuition fees and living expenses in Japan.

※Successful applicants shall make payment for the admission fee, tuition fee, facilities & educational materials for 6 months, a total of 350,000yen, or 650,000yen for 1 year, after receiving notice of issuance of “Certificate of Eligibility”. The “Certificate of Eligibility” and “Admission of Enrollment” will be mailed after confirmation of receipt of payment.
※Fees for visa extension, JLPT exam, and other fees such as bank transfer fees shall be borne by each student.
※Fees for such as textbooks, medical checkup, and National Health Insurance at actual cost will also be charged separately.
※If the student’s visa cannot be issued, HIJLA will verify the situation and refund the admission fee, tuition, plus facilities & educational materials fee which have already been paid by the student. NB: The Entrance examination fee is non-refundable.

FAQ

  • Does the academy have a dormitory?
  • We have dormitories for both males and females. Please contact us for more details.
  • How long does it take to get the student visa after I submit my application documents?
  • It depends on the country. In general, it takes several months (3~4 months)from the date you submit all of the required application documents to our school to be issued with the Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) from the Japanese regional Immigration Bureau. After you have submitted the CoE and other necessary documents to the Japanese embassy/Consulate in your country it may take one week or more to receive the visa stamp in your passport.
  • What if my application for visa is denied?
  • You cannot enter our academy. We will refund the tuition, the fee for facilities and educational materials. Please be noted that the entrance examination fee is not refundable.
  • Do I need to translate my application documents into Japanese?
  • Please contact our school office directly for advice.
  • What happens if I cannot submit all of my application documents before the deadline date?
  • If you cannot submit all of the required documents by the deadline please contact our school office for advice. In some instances it may be necessary to defer your enrollment to the next available entrance period.
  • What kind of part-time jobs are available to students in the area?
  • Usually students can find jobs in restaurants, factories and convenience stores. However, students are not permitted under the conditions of the student visa to acquire jobs in drinking and entertainment establishments.
  • How much money can I earn each month working part-time?
  • In general working 28 hrs. per week during the school term students can earn approx.. ¥60,000 ~ ¥80,000
  • Can the school provide help to me to find a part-time job when I arrive?
  • There are various employment agencies in the area which can offer assistance in finding part-time jobs; our school staff can help you contact agencies to find suitable work.
  • How do I know what level of Japanese I am and which JLPT level I should target?
  • At the start of the program the teachers will assess the level of each student and continue to do so throughout the program. For those aiming to take the JLPT, the teacher will use the test data to determine the target level for the student in the JLPT.
  • What happens after I finish the language program?
  • Many of our students continue studying in vocational schools or university; it is also possible to start working after acquiring a good level of Japanese language ability.
  • Do the teachers communicate in Japanese only?
  • Our students come form various countries, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam etc. so we use Japanese as the common language; we want to encourage our students to use Japanese all of the time even with native speakers of your own language, it may seem difficult at first but it help you to quickly develop your Japanese language skills and communicate more easily with native Japanese speakers.
  • Can I pay my tuition in installments?
  • All tuition fees are paid in advance. Prior to entering our school students may choose to pay the first 6 months or 1 year fee, after which the fees will divided into 6 month installments and finally 3 months.
  • Can I get a cell phone while I am in Japan?
  • Yes, after you have obtained your residence card and opened a bank account it is possible to acquire a phone. There are now some companies in Japan which sells SIM cards only so it may be possible to use your existing phone here in Japan.
